About

Dr Mayra is carioca and in love with Rio de Janeiro. She went to medical school at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and did her first residency training, in general surgery, at the same institution, at University Hospital Clementino Fraga Filho – HUCFF/UFRJ.

She chose to specialize in plastic surgery at the National Cancer Institute – INCA/MS-RJ – where she lived and learned how to deal with extreme cases, and at the same time she felt the gratitude and recognition from several patients who had their well being and health restored through reconstructive plastic surgery.

After completing her training in plastic surgery, Dr. Mayra also specialized in cranio-maxillo-facial surgery at the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics – INTO/MS-RJ. During this time, she worked with facial trauma patients and children with malformations, where she improved and evolved her knowledge in facial surgery.

Concerned about the scientific improvement, Dr. Mayra is a member of the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery, the Brazilian Association of Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgery and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. In addition, she frequently engages at national and international lectures and meetings of her field.

Currently, Dr. Mayra works in the Federal Hospital of Lagoa and private practice, where she develops the full spectrum of plastic surgery, encompassing aesthetic surgeries of the face, breast and body contour, as well as breast and facial reconstruction consequent to tumors and malformations.

Always aware to the details, Dr. Mayra knows the potential that plastic surgery has to restore self-esteem, and the role it plays in the perception of well-being and happiness. In this sense, she performs a differentiated treatment, through the individual and globalized evaluation of each patient. Dr. Mayra believes that a successful treatment plan is based on what is safe and effective and, above all, what meets the expectations of each person.
